Swamp Kauri & Glenburn costal rock
This piece unites the deep memory of earth and sea a bowl turned from ancient swamp kauri, resting atop a timeworn stone gathered from the coastline of Glenburn station.
Papaku meaning “depths” in te reo Maori, reflects both the physical origin of the swamp kauri and the emotional ancestral layers held within the work. Together, wood and stone tell a story of upheaval, stillness, and a return to quite resting place for things once buried and now found again.
may it remind you that what lies deep is not lost only waiting. That beauty and strength often emerge from beneath, shaped by time, and brought to light with care.
